მუშავებული ზუგდიდის კულტურის განვითარების სტრატეგიის შესაბამისად, სსიპ შოთა მესხიას ზუგდიდის სახელმწიფო სასწავლო უნივერსიტეტში „გასტრონომიის აკადემიის“ აქტივობების ფარგლებში – მომზადდა ისტორიის მიმართულების ასოცირებული პროფესორის ნესტან კვარაცხელიას კვლევა „მესაქონლეობისა და რძის პროდუქტების წარმოების ისტორიიდან დასავლეთ საქართველოში (სამეგრელოს ეთნოგრაფიული მასალების მიხედვით)“ და ითვალისწინებს უნივერსიტეტის ბაზაზე ახალგაზრდებისა და ზრდასრულების სწავლებასთან დაკავშირებული საგანმანათლებლო პროცესის მხარდაჭერას.
ავტორის მიერ მოძიებული და შესწავლილია ტრადიციულ მესაქონლეობასთან დაკავშირებული კულტურულ-ისტორიული საკითხები, კოლხეთის ბუნებრივ-გეოგრაფიული გარემო, მსხვილფეხა მესაქონლეობის ტრადიციები და ფორმები, შრომის ორგანიზაცია. გამოკვლევის დიდი ნაწილი ეთმობა რძის პროდუქტების (ყველის სახეობები, ერბო-კარაქი, მაწონი, ხაჭო) წარმოებისა და რეალიზაციის საკითხებს. წარმოების ადგილობრივი წესი შედარებულია მსოფლიოში არსებულ ტრადიციებთან. ნაშრომში ავტორი ხაზს უსვამს სამეგრელოში არსებული ტრადიციული ტექნოლოგიის უნიკალურობას. კვლევა გამოადგება სამეგრელოს ეთნოგრაფიითა და კულინარიის კულტურით დაინტერესებულ სპეციალისტებს და ფართო მკითხველ საზოგადოებას.

The book is created by the academic staff of Shota Meskhia state teaching University of Zugdidi in cooperation with the comparative studies department of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature and is published by the senior scientist-collaborator of the same department - Prof. Venera Kavtishvili. Accordingly, the logos of both institutions are displayed on the cover of the book. The articles presented in the volume are devoted to the analysis of important issues of literary studies and Georgian literature using modern opinions and theoretical approaches. An interdisciplinary research and an attempt to compare the stages of development of Georgian literature with the phases of unified European literature are presented. The book is intended for undergraduate and Master students of the Faculty of Philology, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in literary studies.

History of foreign policy of Georgian principalities: Principality of Odishi in the first half of the XVII century in Relation to the Ottoman Empire, Persia and Europe

This paper focuses on a very interesting period in the history of Western Georgia, particularly, in the history of Odishi principality, when the inteligent and energetic Levan II Dadiani (1611-1657) ruled the principality. During his rule, the principality reached its highest level of development and gained a dominant position over other Western Georgian political units. The political structures were strengthened, the country's defense capability was enhanced, favorable conditions were created for economic progress, and the principality became the center for the preservation and revival of Georgian culture. The strong leader was never satisfied with his achievements and tried to unite the territory of Western Georgia and subordinate it under his centralised leadership. In this paper, the main directions of foreign policy in Odishi principality in the first half of the 17th century (Relations with Turkey, Iran, and Western Europe) are studied and important facts and events are analyzed. This paper will benefit historians, students, and a general readers interested in themes presented.

Hagiographic traditions and Christian realities of Samegrelo

Samegrelo is a particularly interesting region for studying the identity and uniqueness of Georgian Christian culture. This book analyzes various source materials relevant to this topic. Christian cultural ideals, paradigms or symbols are clearly revealed in these sources. Source materials are distinguished thematically, chronologically, and functionally: words, concepts, phrases; poetic or other genres folkloric texts including proverbs, parables, myths; relics depicting liturgical, ethnographic-ritual practices and related terms; micro and macro toponyms; vocabulary containing symbols of trees, plants, animals and numbers; facts about everyday life. The book is divided into separate articles and sub-chapters based on the content and systematic grouping of the obtained information. Through comparing these genres, the parallels between hagiography and the mentioned materials are particularly interesting and reveal obvious similarities between them. Hagiography is the main source of medieval Georgian religious knowledge. Certain systems of thought; a special form of contemplation of the world; aesthetic and ethical views; philosophical thought - all of these were formed in Georgia during the medieval period and are sometimes expressed in the form of theoretical discussions in Georgian hagiography, and sometimes through pieces of art. The worldview established by Christianity was most clearly reflected in hagiography. Since it is the most reliable source for the study of medieval thought, the assessment of the Christian realities of Samegrelo is mainly based on comparison with hagiographic literary traditions.

This work is a part of the broad scientific research which is the first attempt of monographic study of the great feudal family of Dadiani. This family had a great role in the history of Georgia. Therefore, spheres of our research contain not only the area of Samegrelo and its neighbors (Svaneti, Guria, Abkhazeti and Imereti), but the most interesting and important issues and problems of Georgian historiography. We have attempted to answer all the questions as far as possible.

The presented work is a continuation of the research prepared by the author "Dadians" book 1, chapter. 2019 The author's original vision is characteristic of the second part of the book as well. In it, in parallel with the traditional view of the problem, certain new opinions unknown to official Georgian historiography are expressed, which will allow the reader to understand many important facts and events of the era in a new way, with a different approach, based on a critical analysis of stereotypes firmly established in historiography.
